Mud volcano DW Niger delta annotated Interpretation

VSA Author: Rob Butler
Date Created: 2020-01-20

This annotated version highlights various amplitude anomalies likely to represent hydrocarbons. They include a bottom simulating reflector representing gas hydrates and some bright spots deeper in the structure that could be DHIs - migrated gas. The footwall (R side) of the structure is uninterpreted. Note the thick growth sequence charting amplification of the anticline (in semi-transparent yellow). The disturbed reflector sets are probable remobilised strata ("mass transport complexes") - which are probably shed from an adjacent anticline out of picture (certainly the shallowest example appears not to have a detachment scar not "erosive" base in this line of section.... The forelimb of the fold is characteristically poorly imaged - and contains various seismic migration artifacts.
