Part of Pelagian shelf profile 2 (central Mediterranean), displayed at near equal vertical and horizontal scale. the array of fault blocks are separated by soft-linked, chiefly normal faults. However, local, steep reverse offsets are evident. The combined style may imply weak wrench shear across the shelf. The main (tinted) unit here appears to deform as a rigid beam, suggesting an underlying weak unit (potentially Triassic evaporites). Not that at the R end of section the top of the beam has a disrupted reflector character - potentially a result of emergence and karst formation.
