Reef platform and outliers, time structure map Regional Project

Scenes: 3

Date Created: 2010-06-06

Time structure map of the surface bounding the top of the Kujung 1 carbonate deposits. The southern part of the study area is characterized by a broad carbonate platform topped by reefs ranging from 3 to 5 km diameter. Outlier buildups up to 8 km in diameter are observed to the north and northwest. Image presented at the "Frontiers of Seismic Geomorphology" showcase held at the Geological Society, London, June, 2010.

Carbonate outlier and mudstones Scene

Date Created: 2010-06-06

Kujung 1 outlier (approximately 4 km wide) with later Tuban mudstones prograding from the northwest. These mudstones eventually bury the Kujung 1 carbonates and form the platform across which Ngrayong siliciclastics are deposited. The basin floor is characterized by polygonal fracturing, suggesting the presence of marl across the basin floor. The outlier reef shown is the same as th...

Patch-reef outlier detail Scene

Date Created: 2010-06-06

A) Plan and B) perspective views of seismic amplitude map of an outlier buildup in the northern part of the study area. Debris aprons expressed as amplitude brights (reds and yellows) extending 1–2 km away from this buildup characterize the adjacent basin-floor areas. Plumes of amplitude brights (possible calciturbidites) are observed to emanate from the mouths of platform channels (...

Small patch reefs Scene

Two perspective views (A and B) of time structure maps on top of Kujung 1 carbonates showing numerous small (< 100 m wide) patch reefs within larger patches.
